Everyone needs to vacate and even though today’s economy is keeping people at home opting for staycations, bare in mind that the point of taking time off, is getting away from the everyday stuff.

Let’s say you decided on a state like California. As you browse through your California travel brochures, you would take note of different areas that you’d like to visit, how far away they are from your home and how far away those areas are from each other. Since budget is the key word, choosing a single area within the state would be a good idea.

Now, compare the costs. Even if you didn’t plan ahead, your every day weekly budget at home may be very close to what you may spend on traveling out of town. This bring us to the third rule for vacationing on a budget, planning ahead. Let’s say you decided on a state like California. As you browse through your California travel brochures, you would take note of different areas that you’d like to visit, how far away they are from your home and how far away those areas are from each other.

Once your fuel costs have been calculated, decide the number of days you will be gone and add the cost of hotel or RV rental. Choosing a budget hotel with a kitchenette can help with the cost of food which is the next expense to be calculated.

Next, research a destination. Living in the United States, there are many destinations that can offer a budget conscious vacation and many of the benefits of international travel. Pick up some California travel brochures or any other state that is nearby, including your own.

You may be surprised at what you can do with a small amount of money and a tank or two of fuel.
