I want to build my own Website, but it needs to be free, to test the water so to speak, has anyone done the same. were there hidden costs or can you build a small website for free?

If you open a Hotmail e-mail account you can have a free web space and you can either have it open to all or you can restrict access to your friends. You will get some spam, which is how it is financed.

Find a webhost / domain site.Such as yahoo or godaddy.com
Get a domain for 5 bucks and a months hosting for another 5 to 10 bucks.. Try it out with its full capabilities ..Those free sites will half ASS you and give you a bad impression.. Trust me spend the 10 to 15 dollars and try that…

However if you are just practicing this is fine. Also, you can simply build a website on your own computer without it being available to users online, but you can test links etc. You must know HTML for this, and I have supplied a great link for HTML coding below.
Also Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage are excellent programs for this type of design…
