IT Career Courses Simplified

by Jason Kendall

There are four specialist areas of training in a full CompTIA A+ program; you’re considered an A+ achiever when you’ve gained exams for 2 out of 4 subjects. This is the reason that most training providers limit themselves to 2 study areas. In reality to carry out a job effectively, you’ll need the training for all four areas as a lot of employment will demand an awareness of the entire course. Don’t feel pressured to qualify in them all, but it seems common sense that you take tutorials in all 4 subjects.

Once on the CompTIA A+, you will learn how to build, fix, repair and work in antistatic conditions. Diagnostic techniques and fault finding are also on the syllabus, as is remote access.

It could be a good idea to think about adding the CompTIA Network+ training as it will enable you to work with networks, and have a more responsible working role.

Many trainers have a handy Job Placement Assistance program, designed to steer you into your first job. Often, too much is made of this feature, because it is actually not that hard for well qualified and focused men and women to find a job in the IT industry - as employers are keen to find appropriately trained staff.

Nevertheless, avoid waiting until you’ve finished your training before getting your CV updated. The day you start training, list what you’re working on and get it out there!

Getting onto the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s is far better than not even being known about. Often junior support jobs are given to students (who’ve only just left first base.)

The top companies to help get you placed are usually specialist independent regional recruitment consultancies. As they’re keen to place you to receive their commission, they’re perhaps more focused on results.

Many trainees, it seems, put a great deal of effort into their studies (sometimes for years), and then just stop instead of looking for a job. Sell yourself… Do your best to let employers know about you. Don’t expect a job to just fall into your lap.

You should remember: the course itself or the accreditation isn’t the end-goal; a job you’re training for is. Too many training companies over-emphasise the certificate itself.

You may train for one year and then end up doing the job for 20 years. Avoid the mistake of finding what seems like a very ‘interesting’ program only to spend 20 years doing a job you hate!

Stay focused on where you want to go, and then build your training requirements around that - not the other way round. Keep your eyes on your goals and ensure that you’re training for something you’ll still be enjoying many years from now.

Take advice from an experienced advisor, even if you have to pay a small fee - as it’s a lot cheaper and safer to find out at the start if you’ve chosen correctly, rather than find out after several years of study that the job you’ve chosen is not for you and have to return to the start of another program.

Considering how a program is ‘delivered’ to you is often missed by many students. How many stages do they break the program into? What is the order and at what speed is it delivered?

Usually, you’ll join a programme staged over 2 or 3 years and receive a module at a time. This sounds logical on one level, until you consider this:

Maybe the order of study insisted on by the company won’t suit you. It may be difficult to get through every element inside of their particular timetable?

To be in the best situation you would have all the learning modules packed off to your address right at the beginning; the whole caboodle! Thus avoiding any future problems that could impede the reaching of your goals.

Traditional teaching in classrooms, involving piles of reference textbooks, is often a huge slog for most of us. If this describes you, look for learning programmes that are multimedia based.

Many studies have proved that memory is aided when we receive multi-sensorial input, and we take action to use what we’ve learned.

The latest home-based training features interactive discs. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you’ll find things easier to remember by way of their teaching and demonstrations. Then you test your knowledge by interacting with the software and practicing yourself.

Make sure to obtain a training material demonstration from any training college. You should ask for expert-led demonstrations, slideshows and virtual practice lab’s for your new skills.

Some companies only have access to training that is purely available online; sometimes you can get away with this - but, consider how you’ll deal with it if your access to the internet is broken or you get intermittent problems and speed issues. It is usually safer to have actual CD or DVD ROMs that removes the issue entirely.

  • The Basics Of Computer Software

    by Adriana Noton

Computer software is the phrase used to describe a set of instructions, or a program, that lets a computer know what it is supposed to do. Hardware refers to things like the computers themselves, monitors, printers, disk drives and other pieces that are hard, meaning solid and tangible. Programs are not tangible and are given the name software. There are several types of software but the three most common are application, programming and system.

Operating systems, device drivers and utilities are all examples of system software. An operating system is basically like the commander of the computer and organizes all the activities that take place. One of its many jobs is to act as an interface between the user and all the hardware. Also, it distributes system resources for the application software.

Printers, monitors, keyboards and mice are devices that require a device manager. Each device has its own driver that stores all the information that the computer needs to run the device properly and to its fullest capacity. For instance, a keyboard driver gives the computer all the necessary info to recognize and properly carry out the function of each keystroke.

Utility programs have many functions. They are used to maintain and configure computers as well as optimize performance. Cleaning the registry, defragmenting, managing files, portioning the disks, compressing data and backup are common utility tasks. Before you buy computer software, always check if the utility software is already installed.

As the name suggests, programming software helps programmers write computer programs. Source code, or a human readable program, is written in object code, or a computer language. The result is a program. Debuggers are used to test out programs and fix and errors. Additional programming tools include interpreters and text editors.

Everyday tasks performed on a computer are run with application software. Every application a computer does is also referred to as a task. Even a game is a task, or application. When you take over the role of WWII hero, you are utilizing application software. You also use this type of software when you run medical, business, educational and scientific programs.

Companies use applications software everyday to aid with the needs of business. Spreadsheets, payroll, customer service, accounts receivable, inventory management and data base organization are all run with such software. A company may also invest in software that will teach employees to learn a second language to increase worker capability. Software is also used every day in hospitals to run some monitoring equipment. Researchers use it in their labs to test theories in modeling programs.

The software industry is expected to grow by over 50% by the year 2013. There are thousands of computer software companies all over the world and ten times as many programmers working to make the industry even bigger. Job seekers and investors realize how important this industry is and the pace at which it is expanding. It is little wonder that so many people are trying to get involved in this field in one way or another.

A fraction of the working population in this country are enjoying job satisfaction. Naturally most will do nothing about it. The fact that you’ve got this far if nothing else suggests that you’ve realised change must come.

Before we even think about individual courses, discuss your thoughts with an industry expert who can help you sort out which area will be right for you. An advisor who will take time to get to know your personality, and find out the best career for you to work towards:

    * Do you like to work collaborating with people? Would that be with a small ‘tightly-knit’ team or with a lot of new people? Perhaps working alone in isolation would be more your thing?

    * The banks and building sector are a little shaky at the moment, so which sector will be best for you?

    * Once you’ve trained, how many years work do anticipate working, and can the industry you choose offer you that opportunity?

    * Will the information you learn allow you to find new work easily, and remain in employment until you wish to retire?

Don’t overlook the IT industry, it will be well worth your time - you’ll find it’s one of the only growth areas in this country and overseas. Another benefit is that remuneration packages are much better than most.

It’s important to understand: a training itself or an accreditation is not the ultimate goal; the career that you want to end up in is. Far too many training organisations completely prioritise the piece of paper.

You may train for one year and then end up doing a job for a lifetime. Ensure you avoid the fatal error of choosing what sounds like a program of interest to you and then spend decades in something you don’t even enjoy!

Stay tuned-in to where you want to go, and formulate your training based on that - not the other way round. Stay focused on the end-goal - making sure you’re training for a career you’ll enjoy for years to come.

We recommend that students seek advice from a skilled professional before you begin some particular training path, so you can be sure that the content of a learning package provides the appropriate skill-set.

A successful training package will undoubtedly also offer fully authorised exam preparation systems.

Sometimes people can get thrown by going through practice questions that aren’t recognised by official sources. Often, the question formats and phraseology is startlingly different and it’s vital that you know this.

Mock exams will prove invaluable for confidence building - so when it comes to taking the real deal, you will be much more relaxed.

Most of us would love to think that our jobs are safe and our work prospects are protected, but the growing likelihood for the majority of jobs around the UK today is that security just isn’t there anymore.

Security only exists now through a quickly escalating marketplace, driven forward by a shortfall of trained staff. It’s this alone that creates the correct setting for a secure marketplace - a far better situation.

The most recent British e-Skills survey showed that twenty six percent of all IT positions available are unfilled mainly due to a chronic shortage of appropriately certified professionals. Alternatively, you could say, this highlights that the UK only has 3 trained people for each 4 job positions that exist today.

This fundamental idea shows an urgent requirement for more appropriately trained Information Technology professionals in the United Kingdom.

For sure, now, more than ever, really is the very best time to train for IT.

A competent and specialised consultant (in contrast with a salesperson) will talk through your abilities and experience. This is vital for establishing the point at which you need to start your studies.

An important point to note is that, if you have some relevant previous certification, then you can sometimes expect to begin at a different level to a trainee with no history to speak of.

If this is going to be your initial attempt at studying to take an IT exam then it may be wise to start out with some basic Microsoft package and Windows skills first.

  • Get Back With Your Ex Girlfriend Fast

    by David Duncan

If you’re inquiring how you can get back with your ex girlfriend, the first thing that you have to realize is this is an absolutely fragile spot. Your feelings may be hurt, and her feelings may also be hurt - And it is crucial that you are cautious about what you’re doing therefore, otherwise feelings may be bruised even harder.

Here are the circumstances that you want to arrive at when it comes to calculating how to get back with your ex girlfriend.

1 - First of all, what was it that you did in order to cause the break up? Girls do not break up up with guys wholly out of the blue, so there is in all probability a very good rationality behind the action even if you are not instantly knowledgeable of what it is. The first step in this mental process has to be to figure out what went wrong, whether or not it could have been prevented, and how can you can mend it now that you know what it is.

2 - If the break up with your ex girl was altogether your fault, then the first thing that you need to do to help rekindle matters is to let your ex girlfriend know that you acknowledge what materialized, you recognize that it was your fault, and that you are remorseful for your actions and the inadvertent results.

3 - You should continue to socialize with other people, even though you are attempting to court your ex again. Just because you and your ex are not in contact right now, that does not mean that you need to cut off yourself off from the rest of the human race. You should go out with other girls, or at least go out and have some fun with your acquaintances. It may even work to your advantage for you to cause some green-eyed monster in your ex partner if you really do want to get them back.

4 - Display to your ex that you have moved on, but you also need to show her that you still care about her. This is the perfect way to in time get her back. Allow her know that you have not completely moved on, and that you still have feelings for her, and this will make you seem more mature to her, and more in demand as well.

5 - ultimately, it is important that you work hard to become friends with your ex again. This will establish trust, and will help to make you closer to one another.

Afterward, you should inquire her why you broke up in the first place, but be nonchalant about it rather than looking hopeless. She will either acknowledge that it was a mistake that the two of you broke up, or she will let you know that the break up was for the better. Once you have an resolution, you can go on from that point.

These are just the beginning steps in winning your Ex back. They are the first steps I abided by when I lost the love of my life. And candidly these aren’t my innovational ideas. I turned to T ‘Dub’ Jackson when I had no idea of how to get my true love back.

T ‘Dub’ authored a simple, down to earth step by step plan called “The Magic Of Making Up”. And you know, it worked like magic for us. Now we are more enamored than ever.

Brian Bowles used a counter right hook late in the first round to defeat Miguel Angel Torres by TKO and win the WEC Bantamweight title in the main event of another exciting fight card from Zuffas MMA promotion showcasing the lighter weight classes.

The event will be remembered for the main event and the shocking upset of Torres, whom commentator Frank Mir had been championing as the pound for pound best fighter in the sport of late. Torres certainly had the credentials”a fighter equally as dangerous on his feet as on the ground, hed compiled a 37-1 record entering the fight against Bowles. Since a 2003 decision loss to Ryan Ackerman, Torres had run off 17 straight victories including his most recent triumph by decision over a tough challenge from Japanese striking machine Takeya Mizugaki.

Bowles entered the cage accompanied by the music of Johnny Cash. This prompted WEC commentator Todd Harris to quip “It takes a special man to walk in to Johnny Cash”. He wasnt kidding, and Bowles quickly announced his presence with authority rocking Torres with an overhand right and scoring a takedown within the first minute. After a groundfighting sequence, the two fighters exchanged punches again and initially it looked like Torres was getting the best of things as he landed a multiple punch combination that sent Bowles backing up. Almost out of nowhere, however, Bowles countered with a perfectly placed short right hook that sent the champion to the canvas. He followed up with some nasty ground and pound punches including a big left hand that knocked his opponent unconscious and forced the referee to wave off the fight.

In his postfight interview, Bowles sounded unsurprised by the outcome. His comments indicated that hed been very well prepared for Torres considerable skills and though he conceded that hed been stung by the punching barrage waited for the opening to throw the right hook that ended the fight. Bowles displayed considerable class in victory, and Torres conducted himself in a matter befitting a champion as he accepted the defeat.

A rematch between Bowles and Torres is almost inevitable, but theres plenty of talent in the WEC bantamweight division. The semifinal bout on the card pitted two of these competitors in what may have been an elimination match for #1 contender status as Dominick Cruz handed feisty Joseph Benavidez his first professional loss via unanimous decision. The unorthodox and insanely athletic Benevidez had a good deal of trouble with the superior height and reach of Cruz.

Further muddling the picture in the bantamweight division was an earlier fight on the card, in which Takeya Mizugaki outlasted Jeff Curran to win a split decision victory. Mizugaki had trouble with the active guard of Curran, but scored takedowns in all three rounds.

  • Dana White And Tito Ortiz Kiss And Make Up

    by Ross Everett

In the ‘real world’ time heals all wounds. In the fight game, money has the same curative effect. This was vividly illustrated with the recent announcement that Tito Ortiz has patched things up with Dana White and will return to the UFC. Tito left the promotion over a year ago after a highly publicized split with the UFC president. He never found a new promotional home that would give him the money and the high profile status that he craved.

Ortiz has had several run ins with the UFC over their notoriously tight pay structure, and first left the promotion in 2005. He was back later that year for a run as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter against longtime rival Ken Shamrock. After losing to current light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida in his last UFC appearance, Ortiz left the company and bounced around doing personal appearances and commentary for a variety of promotions. He had surgery on his back in the process, and now claims that hes back to 100%.

Tito may never regain his championship form as a fighter, but that is of minimal relevance due to one salient fact”people will pay to see him fight. Dana White evoked the same theme in his comments on Ortiz at a Friday press conference in Las Vegas:

“Tito and I have a history that everyone knows. He’s still a guy that everyone wants to see fight. He said his back has healed perfectly and he’s ready to take a shot at the title. He’s one of those guys that people love and people love to hate. We’ve put all our differences aside, have squashed everything and will move forward, and Tito will retire in the UFC.”

    To which Ortiz responded:

“Time really cures everything. Dana was a man of his word. Dana apologized to me. We’re like boyfriend and girlfriend.”

Ortiz said that Dana White and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta came to his home in Huntington Beach, California and made him an offer he couldn’t turn down:

“I’m happy, I’m satisfied, You’ll never hear anything about money again.

While both Ortiz and White said that he’d be back in the octagon ‘ASAP, neither man gave much in the way of specifics. Sources suggest that he could debut on the UFCs New Years card against Mark Coleman. Coleman is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 in mid July.

To best understand Titos appeal and why the UFC was so anxious to re-sign him, well paraphrase HBO boxing commentator Larry Merchant. As he previewed the George Foreman/Michael Moorer heavyweight championship bout he addressed criticism that Foreman didnt deserve the bout based on his recent form. Merchant noted that there are many fighters, but very few stars. Like George Foreman, Tito Ortiz is a star. Some love him, some hate him but people pay to watch him fight.

  • Dallas Routs Hapless Seattle

    by Ross Everett

Quarterback Tony Romo had another solid game, and the Dallas Cowboys made short work of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon in a 38-17 victory. Romo threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, and receiver Miles Austin caught a touchdown pass for the third straight game. The Cowboys improved to 5-2 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 2-5.

The Cowboys also got on the winning side of the NFL pointspread ledger with the win and cover as -10 home favorites. Dallas is now 4-3 against the spread for the season, while Seattle fell to 2-5 versus the number. The 55 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 46′.

Romo has made greater patience in the pocket a priority this season, and it’s paying dividends. Sunday’s game was his third straight without an interception and he’s stayed interception free in five games this season-more than he did all of last year. Romo couldn’t resist a joke at his own expense:

“Shock! I’m seeing things. It’s as simple as that. I’m not throwing and hoping.”

Head coach Wade Phillips expressed his pleasure, but didn’t want his team to start believing their own press clippings:

“I feel good about the progress we’ve made, but we’ve still got a ways to go.”

Team owner Jerry Jones was happy with the performance and already looking ahead to next Sunday’s game at Philadelphia:

“I’m just glad to see as many people really do as well and play as well as they did today. Philadelphia is the kind of game that I think we’re ready for. … Plus, I think we all remember so much — I know I do and so many players on this team remember — how we left Philadelphia last year.”

Seattle quarterback Todd Hasselbeck played well, amassing 249 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions but didn’t get much help from a defense that couldn’t put the necessary pressure on Romo. He sounded frustrated in his postgame comments:

“We put two weeks into this game plan. I felt like we were ready. We just didn’t get it done. …. I feel physically drained, emotionally drained. I’m frustrated. We’re all searching for answers.”

The big game for the Cowboys that Jerry Jones alluded to is next Sunday night as they travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. The Cowboys have been installed as +3 underdogs with the total set at 47′. They’ll head to Green Bay to take on the Packers the following Sunday before returning home to play the hated Washington Redskins. Seattle will host the lowly Detroit Lions next Sunday, with the Seahawks a -10 home favorite and the total set at 43. They’ll hit the road for their next two games, facing the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.

If it’s Cisco training you’re after, but you’re new to working with switches and routers, you most probably should start with the Cisco CCNA qualification. This will provide you with the knowledge you need to understand routers. The internet is constructed from huge numbers of routers, and large companies with several locations also utilise routers to allow their networks to talk to each other.

Routers are linked to networks, so look for a program that covers networking fundamentals (such as CompTIA Network+ and A+) and then do a CCNA course. It’s vital that you’ve got a basic grasp of networks prior to starting your Cisco training or you may be out of your depth. In the commercial environment, networking skills will be valuable in addition to the CCNA.

Getting your Cisco CCNA is the right level to aim for; don’t be pushed into attempting your CCNP. Once you’ve worked for a few years, you will have a feel for whether CCNP is something you want to do. If you decide to become more qualified, you’ll have the knowledge you need for the CCNP - because it’s far from a walk in the park - and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages are a must - and absolutely ought to be sought from your training supplier.

Don’t fall foul of relying on unauthorised exam preparation systems. Their phraseology can be completely unlike authorised versions - and often this creates real issues when the proper exam time arrives.

Always request some practice exams so you’ll be able to test your knowledge along the way. Practice exams log the information in your brain - then you won’t be quite so nervous at the actual exam.

How can job security really exist anymore? In the UK for instance, where industry can change its mind on a day-to-day basis, we’d question whether it does.

We’re able though to reveal security at the market sector level, by searching for areas that have high demand, together with a shortage of skilled staff.

Taking the IT sector for instance, a key e-Skills survey demonstrated a skills gap around Great Britain of over 26 percent. Therefore, for each 4 job positions available around Information Technology (IT), companies can only locate properly accredited workers for three of the four.

This worrying concept highlights the validity and need for more commercially trained Information Technology professionals throughout the country.

For sure, this really is a critical time to consider retraining into Information Technology (IT).

The world of information technology is amongst the most electrifying and revolutionary industries to be involved in today. Being up close and personal with technology is to do your bit in the gigantic changes that will impact the whole world for generations to come.

Society largely thinks that the technological revolution we’ve had over recent years is cooling down. All indicators point in the opposite direction. Massive changes are on the horizon, and the internet in particular is going to dominate how we conduct our lives.

A standard IT man or woman in Great Britain will also get noticeably more money than equivalent professionals in much of the rest of the economy. Average remuneration packages are amongst the highest in the country.

With the IT marketplace emerging with no sign of a slow-down, it’s likely that the need for professionally qualified and skilled IT workers will remain buoyant for quite some time to come.

It’s quite a normal occurrence for students not to check on a painfully important area - how their company breaks up the courseware sections, and into what particular chunks.

You may think that it makes sense (with training often lasting 2 or 3 years to gain full certified status,) that a training provider will issue one section at a time, as you achieve each exam pass. But:

What if there are reasons why you can’t finish every exam? What if you don’t find their order of learning is ideal for you? Because of nothing that’s your fault, you mightn’t complete everything fast enough and consequently not get all your materials.

To be in the best situation you would have every piece of your study pack sent to your home before you even start; the whole caboodle! Thus avoiding any future problems that could impede your capability of finishing.

Yes, I do clean up my computer registry — and I do it on a regular basis. Actually, I wasn’t really much into it in the beginning; then I started having difficulties starting up my system, and I knew something was wrong. It didn’t take long when a blue line appeared on my screen, basically indicating that my PC was on the verge of death, and all because of a cluttered computer registry.

Computer registry is an integral part of a computer system and over time, it accumulates files. These files may become inactive and even invalid over time. Thus, the system starts to slow down and it takes a longer duration for the files to be opened and processed, both simple and complex files.

For someone who is not very knowledgeable about computer stuff, all these can sound too far off. However, you do not need special technical skills to begin cleaning the registry of your computer, thanks to the availability of registry cleaners. Indeed these cleaners can very well assist you in cleaning up your system’s mess so that it runs like brand new.

What are registry cleaners to begin with? Well, they are software applications created with the end in view of restoring the function of your system. The application is programmed to find out the kinds of files that are linked to the programs you use. Then those that are found to be no longer valid or are corrupted are queued for correction or deletion as the case may be.

Even though you may not exactly be a computer expert, you should not be ignorant of what’s going on with your PC. As a computer user, you must act responsibly at all times. It is recommended that you get a computer registry fix as often as every time you empty out your recycle bin. It is important, too, that you choose the right kind of registry cleaner to fix your computer problem.

The moment you find the best program, you can sit back and relax. After pressing the “scan” key, the program presents you with a list of files that require correction or removal from the registry.

You may stumble on DLL files while doing the registry clean-up, and you may wonder what to do with these files. DLL files are residual files, and they can be safely deleted.

The blue line experience has definitely awakened my eyes. Now, I make sure to clean up my computer registry regularly so I don’t get to suffer the same ordeal every again.

  • What Electrical NVQ ’s Should I Consider

    by Jason Kendall

Lots of people choose a career within the electrical industry because it both appeals and motivates them. From here on we will use the phrase of Electrical Industry to explain the more accurate term of “Electro-Mechanical Engineering”. Also, due to a wide variety of qualifications and standards throughout the world, we’ll focus on those that fit the UK domestic and commercial market. We will begin by reviewing the main issues first and come back to the ‘add-ons’ later, because of the huge number of options available as a career within this subject.

On consideration, we observe two forms of access into the electrical market. To being with we have the older apprentice course and then secondly we have the option for those who wish to make a career change to join the industry. We have to reference individuals so we will plainly do so by ‘Junior’ and ‘Mature’ entrants.

Principally, Mature Entrants join the electrical workplace later on, and focus on becoming self employed. This means working on their own and not having to pay salaries to anyone else. Alternatively, ‘Junior Entrants’ will pick up lots of their work place skills by working with an already reputable electrical company. During their first years in the working environment, a young apprentice, or junior entrant, will have a host of additional skills to learn.

Clearly these two options have both differing training styles and methods of entry. In essence, the Junior Entrants follow an NVQ syllabus, or SVQ syllabus in Scotland. The core syllabus is similar to non NVQ commercial training, but the certification is compulsory. This requires being in a directly-related work program or apprenticeship of some type, so as to meet the testing and course-work requirements.

Instead of seeking a work-based training environment, the Mature Entrant often seems to focus on working as a self employed person where different qualifications to NVQ’s are preferred. Having said that, the mature student does aim to gain the necessary skills to do the job, whilst at the same time reducing their training costs at all times. This system, although appearing to reduce the attributes laid out, does allow for a faster and more solid entry into the domestic market.

Salaries are often simply broken down to those that relate to self -employed people and those in general employment. For the sake of this document we will assume that everyone involved in electrical employment is working full-time. Certainly, whilst salary levels can be affected by knowledge and qualifications, they can also be affected by competence and aptitude.

Although starting wages for ‘Junior Entrants’ are around 13k p.a. they can rise above 30k p.a. but this does depend on their level of experience. However, with incomes of 70,000 or more a year, a ‘Mature Entrants’ salary can often be more difficult to judge. Irrespective of this salary level many self-employed people also need to manage extra business costs such as tools, clothes and vans. Earmarked within this is the need to cover additional expenses such as accountancy or insurance. However, the driving force remains the UK skills shortage and this means that there’s a load of work available. Therefore, working seven days a week (if a student wanted) is a possibility for most. To be fair, high salaries bounded about by the press do require long working hours or help to achieve them.

There is often a considerable differential between the working expectations of Mature or Junior Entrants. Most ‘Junior Entrants’ do not work at the weekends. While on the other hand, the opportunities in the domestic market (where mature entrants often work) can be heavily dependent upon when the clients get home. Although by testing and installing various business systems, many self-employed electricians manage to work during a normal working week.

Once a Junior Entrant is employed within a company, then any follow-on knowledge they gain is often down to the employers’ activity as opposed to anything else. The mature entrant, on the other hand, may seek training outside of their core electrical field, possibly including plumbing and gas work. Within the domestic market this allows them to work under a range of headings without having to rely upon sub contract suppliers.

An up to the minute angle - involving a new level of skills - is that of the so called ‘Green Engineer’. The chance to win some big employment and business advantages within the governmental as well as the traditional growth sector means that this area could be attractive to both Junior and Mature Entrants alike.

A day after failing to make weight for his fight against Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves dominated the former UFC welterweight champion en route to a 2nd round TKO victory. The main event at UFC 85 in London was somewhat anticlimactic to the fans at the O2 Arena who considered the semifinal matchup between Manchesters Michael Bisping and Jason Day the biggest fight on the card.

Hughes didnt make any excuses following his one sided loss, saying simply that hes a good fighter and he got me. The longtime king of the UFCs welterweight division also gave notice that his career as an active fighter was drawing to a close, suggesting that he had one fight left and challenging Matt Serra in what presumably would be his retirement match. Hughes had no answer for Alves from the opening horn, as he was stuffed on several takedown attempts early on. When he did finally get his opponent to the ground he was unable to do much damage. Alves, conversely, scored effectively with his striking including several damaging knee strikes. He also did considerable work on the ground, with an elbow strike opening up a large cut on Hughes forehead.

The end came early in the 2nd round as Hughes was caught coming in by a devastating knee strike. He fell to the canvas in a heap and referee Herb Dean was jumping in to stop the contest before Alves could follow up with any punches. As the ringside physician entered the ring to check on the fallen fighter, Hughes gave an indication that his knee was injured. Replays showed that his knee buckled under him in a very awkward fashion as he fell and while the extent of the damage is yet to be determined Hughes indicated in the postfight interview that it was messed up.

Michael Bisping simply overwhelmed Jason Day en route to a lopsided TKO victory. Bisping built upon the improved boxing skills he demonstrated at UFC 83 by unveiling an impressive ground and pound attack. Day never really got anything going and by the last minute of the fight was simply trying to cover up to prevent damage from Bispings elbows and hammer fists.

In other action, Mike Swick used an array of high kicks and a 7 reach advantage to coast to a unanimous decision over Marcus Davis. Davis, a former professional boxer, was unable to get inside against his lanky opponent and was never really in the fight.

A controversial point deduction for a strike to the back of the head cost Nate Marquardt his match against Thales Leites. Marquardt was solidly in charge for the entire fight, but suffered a point deduction for an illegal knee strike in round one. While that infraction was valid, replays of the 2nd round deduction for the strike to the back of the head gave the impression that he was penalized for a legal strike to the side of the head. The 2 point deduction changed the outcome of the fight, with Leites winning a split decision by the scores of 28-27, 28-27, 27-28. Marquardt was obviously disappointed in the outcome, but to his credit handled the loss with class despite the questionable nature of the outcome.

In the opening PPV match, another controversial ending saw Fabrico Werdum defeat Brandon Vera by 1st round KO. The fight had been evenly contested up until the stoppage, with Werdum scoring a couple of takedown and Vera countering with some effective punching. Late in the first round, Werdum got a full mount and began to fire a series of punches. Vera was clearly defending himself and didnt appear to be hurt at all when the referee jumped in to stop the fight. Vera said that hed answered that he was OK when asked by ref Dan Miragliotta and that he was just trying to ride out the round from that position. Mirgliotta was also the referee in the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight, and some have suggested that matchup was also stopped prematurely.

As there are a plethora of computer courses to choose from, it can be difficult to know what to look for. Choose one that’s in line with your personality and your level of ability, and that’s needed in the workforce.

You can learn anything from Microsoft User Skills up to career training for Web Design, Databases, Programming and Networking. There’s a lot to choose from and so the chances are you’ll want to discuss your requirements with an industry expert before you confirm the course you want: you don’t want to find you’re studying for a career that you can’t relate to!

Modern training techniques at last enable students to learn on an innovative style of course, that costs far less than traditional courses. The low overhead structure of these courses makes them available to all.

Getting your first commercial position sometimes feels easier to handle with the help of a Job Placement Assistance facility. At the end of the day it isn’t a complex operation to secure a job - as long as you’re correctly trained and certified; because there’s still a great need for IT skills in the UK today.

Having said that, it’s important to have CV and Interview advice and support though; and we’d encourage everybody to work on polishing up their CV as soon as training commences - don’t delay till you’ve finished your exams.

It’s not uncommon to find that junior support roles have been bagged by students who’re still on their course and haven’t got any qualifications yet. At least this will get your CV into the ‘possible’ pile and not the ‘no’ pile.

In many cases, a specialist locally based recruitment consultant or service (who will, of course, be keen to place you to receive their commission) is going to give you a better service than a division of a training company. They should, of course, also know the local industry and employment needs.

Do make sure you don’t invest a great deal of time on your training course, then call a halt and expect somebody else to secure your first position. Stop procrastinating and make your own enquiries. Invest as much focus into finding a good job as you did to get trained.

Being at the forefront of the leading edge of new technology is as thrilling as it comes. You personally play your part in shaping the next few decades.

Technological changes and connections through the web is going to noticeably shape our lives over future years; to a vast degree.

And don’t forget that on average, the income of a person in the world of IT in the United Kingdom is a lot better than in the rest of the economy, so in general you’ll probably earn much more as a trained IT professional, than you would in most typical jobs.

Demand for certified IT specialists is certain for a good while yet, because of the constant expansion in IT dependency in commerce and the very large deficiency still present.

One thing you must always insist on is comprehensive 24×7 direct-access support from trained professional instructors and mentors. Too many companies will only offer a basic 9am till 6pm support period (maybe later on certain days) with very little availability over the weekend.

some companies only provide email support (slow), and phone support is often to a call-centre that will chat nicely with you for 5 minutes to ask what the issue is and then simply send an email to an instructor - who will attempt to call you within 24-48 hrs, when it suits them. This isn’t a lot of good if you’re stuck with a particular problem and only have certain times available in which to do your studies.

As long as you look hard, you will find the very best companies which offer online support at all times - at any time of day or night.

Don’t under any circumstances take less than this. Online 24×7 support is really your only option with IT learning. It’s possible you don’t intend to study late evenings; usually though, we’re at work during the provided support period.

Be watchful that any qualifications you’re studying for are commercially relevant and are bang up to date. ‘In-house’ exams and the certificates they come with are not normally useful in gaining employment.

All the major IT organisations like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe all have globally renowned proficiency programmes. These heavyweights can make sure you stand out at interview.

  • Choosing The Right School Software

    by Jason Caldwell

Even classrooms nowadays have reached by the influence of fast modernization. It does not involve computers alone but the school software that aids teachers and parents in providing education to young ones. It is an innovative way of presenting and learning educational courses in classrooms as in effectively draws the attention of students. Also, school software can be used whenever there is a desire to enhance one’s knowledge or to acquire new information at the convenience of home.

Many teachers would use school software as an additional tool, usually for visualization and interactive learning. However, because of recessions and the economic problems that most of us could feel, school software could be a major expenditure. It may be a little expensive but it surely is a valuable learning tool. So, it is important that we are choosing the right school software. Below are some of the things you would want to consider when buying one.

First, it is important that the program is flexible. A program that is arranged in a way that students can turn back and review is better that something that follows a fixed course. Also, take note if the course is designed to let the students finish the course on their own or at least it should contain an easy to understand guide to aid them in the learning process.

It is also critical for effective learning that the navigation is simple and easy to comprehend. It should not contain complex instructions and confusing buttons for navigation as this may cause irritability and frustration to students. Such moods are hindrances for effective learning.

Depth. There are inexpensive programs available that are actually very good but offer only a limited field. You may think of it as a course trying to teach typing but with ASDF and JKL: only. Though they could perform very well and extensively, it is still a burden for educators to plan the sequence of learning. Therefore, it may be better to purchase software that can offer a larger field even if it would cost you more.

One of your goals of using school software as a tool is to make learning fun. Kids are naturally curious. One they get interested into something, he would crave for more. You would want that curiosity burning. Therefore, it is important that when choosing software, it has a consistent flow of interesting information that would increase their thirst for knowledge. Who says classroom is boring?

Is it expensive? You would always want to invest something that is worth its cost. In software and programs, the retail price often reflects the entire cost of the product. But there are some exceptions that you need to watch out for. Some licenses would require you to renew them annually. There are also technical supports that would require you to pay first before they can help you. Though there are email technical supports, it would actually take days before you receive a response. These are just some of the things that you should be warned of, so choose carefully.

You need to of course monitor your students’ progress. Tracking down the performance of each student would help you determine who needs to be promoted to the next level and who are those that need supplementary trainings. Also, it gives you the information on how effective your tool is in teaching a particular subject matter. It is important that you are buying educational software that offers this feature.

    by Jason Kendall

For many people, an interesting and varied choice often means a career within the electrical industry. Within this document we will not use the full term of Electro-Mechanical Engineering but use the term Electrical Industry instead. Also, for ease we will concentrate on those principles that sit within the domestic and commercial markets for the UK. Because of the vast number of options available for a career within the electrical industry, we’ll start by concentrating on the main topics, and come back to the ‘add-ons’ later.

On consideration, we observe two forms of access into the electrical market. Along with apprenticeships for school leavers, students entering the field at a later phase in their life now have an alternative to more traditional amateur routes. For the sake of clarity throughout, the first will be known as ‘Junior Entrants’ and the second simply known as ‘Mature Entrants.’

Principally, Mature Entrants join the electrical workplace later on, and focus on becoming self employed. This means working on their own and not having to pay salaries to anyone else. Those who join as Junior Entrants, on the other hand, appear to do so with the aim of joining an established electrical firm - in order to gain further qualifications and experience whilst picking up practical and other work-place skills. Often a young apprentice will be in their first job since leaving school, and will therefore have a host of ancillary skills to learn during their first few years as a working adult.

These two distinct types of entry have two separate modes of training: NVQ’s are the key factor for all junior entrants. The core syllabus is similar to non NVQ commercial training, but the certification is compulsory. As a result students often have to find their own work programmes to give them the relevant testing and course work covered by most apprenticeships.

By working independently and without the need for NVQ assessments, many Mature Entrants can concentrate on those areas that provide the biggest profit and offer the largest practical solutions for themselves. Having said that, the mature student does aim to gain the necessary skills to do the job, whilst at the same time reducing their training costs at all times. This system, although appearing to reduce the attributes laid out, does allow for a faster and more solid entry into the domestic market.

Between self-employment and general employment we have two routes to consider in terms of typical income. Whilst we will focus on full time employment, there exists the issue as to whether self-employed people are doing this full time or part time. Income levels are also dictated by experience and knowledge gained - usually proven via an accredited proficiency or certification level.

Although starting wages for ‘Junior Entrants’ are around 13k p.a. they can rise above 30k p.a. but this does depend on their level of experience. However, with incomes of 70,000 or more a year, a ‘Mature Entrants’ salary can often be more difficult to judge. It should be remembered however that a self employed person must often bear additional costs for items such as vehicles, tools and clothing. Furthermore, professional items such as accountancy, tax and insurance need to be considered to make the business work properly. However, the driving force remains the UK skills shortage and this means that there’s a load of work available. Therefore, working seven days a week (if a student wanted) is a possibility for most. It should be noted that figures of 70-100k p.a. advertised are not necessarily easy to come by and would require some long working hours to obtain them.

In light of the above, it is often understood that there is wild variance between the working expectations of Junior and Mature Entrants. Electricians who are ‘Junior Entrants’ would work a simple 40 hour working week. To be fair, if the Mature electrician is focused on the domestic market then they often find themselves working out of hours, especially to support their clients when they get home. With many self-employed electricians the core of their income comes from items such as business testing and installation and as such operates during the main part of the week.

Any specialist knowledge the Junior Entrant gains whilst in someone’s employ is usually down to the sectors of industry that company works in. Alternatively, the mature entrant can gain other training outside of their chosen field, such as gas and plumbing work. Without a doubt the extra skills help them in their overall employ whether this is commercial or domestic work.

‘Green Engineering’ is another area to consider. This requires new skills and working knowledge and is one of the fastest growing areas today. With expected growth through new employment contracts and business options, this new entity is extremely attractive to many Junior and Mature Electricians, especially when considering the UK and EEC support overall.

The fact is that a career within the electrical sphere is a frequent alternative for many people. Although often assigned to as ‘Electro-Mechanical Engineering”, we will simply refer to this as the Electrical Industry. Furthermore, we will focus on the UK market and the domestic and commercial elements rather than those from elsewhere around the world. By starting on the main subjects and checking the ‘add-ons’ later on we can review the centre of the electrical industry.

The electrical market has in our opinion two methods of entry. The primary route is the apprenticeship which is considered the more traditional and then we have the second phase for those who are joining at a later stage. Throughout this document we will simply refer to two types of people the ‘Junior’ and the ‘Mature’ entrants.

Mature Entrants who join the industry later on do so with the aim of working for themselves, usually as a one person business. Alternatively, ‘Junior Entrants’ will pick up lots of their work place skills by working with an already reputable electrical company. Upon leaving school many apprenticeships provide a fast learning curve for young adults looking to boost their auxiliary skills.

The distinct types of entry have differing styles of training - Junior Entrants are heavily linked with NVQ’s (or the Scottish equivalent - SVQ’s.) Whilst the core syllabus is relatively similar to non-NVQ commercial training, there is a particular requirement to attain the actual NVQ qualifications as part of the overall training program. This requires being in a directly-related work program or apprenticeship of some type, so as to meet the testing and course-work requirements.

Many mature students gain entry into the market without the NVQ element, and simply choose the most commercially practical route to self employed work. Instead most of them aim for the techniques that will get them up and running as quickly as possible and give them the best return against the cost to train in the first place. Whilst this may seem to reduce the overall qualification set, this meets the trade requirements for the areas involved, and thus provides a quicker and more direct commercial route to the market.

In terms of typical earnings, we have two clear routes - those relating to employment and those for self-employment. The question remains as to how much work per week a self-employed person puts in - for the sake of this review we assume that it is full time. Salary options are often affected both by the know- how and the knack for doing things as well as any perceived formal levels of understanding.

The basic salary for Junior Entrants tends to start around the 12-15k mark, but rises regularly to around 30k with the right level of experience. ‘Mature Entrants’ salaries though are often more difficult to work out, but can rise to 70.000 and above as reported in UK newspapers. Regardless of all that is the need to cover off additional costs such as tools, clothes and even a vehicle and all that goes along with that. Earmarked within this is the need to cover additional expenses such as accountancy or insurance. In the UK there is a lot of work for electrical professions due to a short fall of current skilled people. Without a doubt, the market would allow for some people to work a full seven days a week. It should be understood that the 70-100k figures that we see thrown around in newspapers are not easily achieved, and would either require working long hours or having assistants (or both.)

To be fair, most Junior and Mature electricians experience very different working hours to each other. ‘Junior Entrants’ would normally be required to work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. That aside the Mature market is equally affected by when their clients are available - this is especially so within the domestic sector, where evening and weekend work predominates. Although by testing and installing various business systems, many self-employed electricians manage to work during a normal working week.

A Junior Entrant that has chosen to adopt a career within the electrical trade is more than likely to gain follow up expertise within the particular field they fall into, often dictated by the main business activities of their employer. Then again, the mature entrant can even go outside of the electrical field to gas work or plumbing work for example. They can take on larger jobs and do all the work themselves then - which is a particularly great benefit to domestic clients.

A new trade example is that of the ‘Green Engineer’. This new service to the industry could fit into the overall skill-set of an electrician. The opportunity to provide both employment and potential service contracts, especially in the UK and the EEC sectors, mean that this area is of interest to both Junior and Mature electricians.

It is vital that you keep your PC or laptop protected from the ever changing adware, spyware, scumware and malware that is out there on the Internet. If these infect your computer then you can lose important documents or ruin your computer and programs. Fortunately there are some of the best adware spyware, scumware and malware remover options available for low purchase prices.

Internet malware creators are always at it, so your software has to be ahead of the game at all times. Your anti-virus remover has to be able to remove all kinds of different threats that can potentially harm your PC. Some of the different things that your program should handle include: worms, Trojans, key loggers, malware, viruses, root kits, spyware and so on.

If you choose a free malware remover, then you are taking the risk that it will not protect your computer to the full degree needed. The reason that most free programs are not as good as purchased ones is that they do not tend to be updated enough to be really effective.

Most free malware scanners and anti-virus programs are updated far less frequently than paid programs and these programs also tend to come with customer support and added features that free programs do not provide.

When you are searching for a new protection system for your computer, there are certain features that you should look out for: speed and accuracy are very important, quick response to potential threats to the computer, regular updates available for free or low cost, easy installation and use, ability to detect different types of threats to your computer and good customer service.

Since you rely on your malicious program remover software to do a very important job guarding your computer security, it is best that you read objective reviews of the current available market leaders and make an educated decision about the software package that suits you. Paying a low purchase price to keep your PC operating effectively and protect the information stored on your computer is a very sound investment to make and most packages are very affordable anyway.

  • Introducing Electrician Courses

    by Jason Kendall

Lots of people choose a career within the electrical industry because it both appeals and motivates them. Within this document we will not use the full term of Electro-Mechanical Engineering but use the term Electrical Industry instead. As there are a wide variety of global standards, we will focus on those from the UK and in particular those relating to the domestic and commercial markets. As this is such a wide ranging subject matter we’ll begin by sticking to the main area first and come back to the ‘add-ons’ later.

The electrical market has in our opinion two methods of entry. Initially there’s the more traditional apprenticeship approach, but equally there is now an alternative, suited to those who are keen to enter later in their life. We have to reference individuals so we will plainly do so by ‘Junior’ and ‘Mature’ entrants.

Primarily, those who join the industry later on, (the Mature Entrants,) generally do so with the aim of becoming self-employed at some point, or to work on their own building projects etc. without having to pay wages to external electricians. However, people who join as junior entrants like the fact that they can join a recognised firm to pick up the bulk of their practical and work based skills. This could be a young apprentice’s first position since leaving school, so it will be necessary to pick up supplementary working skills.

Entry has two separate approaches to teaching. The Junior Entrants syllabus involves NVQ/SVQ’s as well as proving working skills. As part of the training program an NVQ would be a requirement to attain. As a result students often have to find their own work programmes to give them the relevant testing and course work covered by most apprenticeships.

Mature Entrants do not appear to seek the NVQ element but instead they go after the most commercially suitable qualifications. Instead most of them aim for the techniques that will get them up and running as quickly as possible and give them the best return against the cost to train in the first place. This method allows for a quicker route to the market and does meet the necessary trading elements for the areas concerned despite reducing the overall qualification set.

With regard to regular earning potential we have two clear paths - one for employees and the other for the self-employed. For the sake of this document we will assume that everyone involved in electrical employment is working full-time. The aptitude and talent for getting things done can affect the levels of salary as well as any experience or knowledge gained.

Wages for ‘Junior Entrants’ can become as high as 30,000 or more per annum with the right experience, although starting salaries are around 12,000. On the other hand experienced self-employed electricians have been known to earn around 70 thousand or more within the UK. That aside, many added costs need to be remembered by self employed people in order to make their business work. Self employed people also have to allow for added expenses. In the UK there is a lot of work for electrical professions due to a short fall of current skilled people. If a student wanted to work every day of the week this would be possible in some areas. To be fair, high salaries bounded about by the press do require long working hours or help to achieve them.

For the most part there is a strong difference between the Junior and Mature Entrants’ working week. Electricians who are ‘Junior Entrants’ would work a simple 40 hour working week. But due to the needs of the domestic market the Mature Entrant is often more reliant upon when their client base gets back from work. With many self-employed electricians the core of their income comes from items such as business testing and installation and as such operates during the main part of the week.

Any specialist knowledge the Junior Entrant gains whilst in someone’s employ is usually down to the sectors of industry that company works in. But by securing work within the fields of gas or plumbing many mature entrants can gain knowledge outside of their chosen path. They can take on larger jobs and do all the work themselves then - which is a particularly great benefit to domestic clients.

An up to the minute angle - involving a new level of skills - is that of the so called ‘Green Engineer’. The opportunity to provide both employment and potential service contracts, especially in the UK and the EEC sectors, mean that this area is of interest to both Junior and Mature electricians.

In today’s world, thousands, if not millions of people are trying to start some sort of website online. Most of them end up losing out on all kinds of money due to the lack of knowledge most individuals have in the beginning. We all seem to get bombarded by free website builders, social networking sites, and everything else, but most of the customized features for these sites are minimal. They simply don’t have the same type of options an affordable web hosting site can offer you. However, it’s not all “peachy” in web hosting sites.

Then again, you will find that most affordable web hosting packages have everything you need. Whether you’re looking for a decent amount of space and bandwidth, they usually give you more then you would actually expect to be used. This gives you the opportunity to manage a blog, forum, or landing page depending on your setup.

Plus you don’t have to worry about losing all your information on the site. When you come across a good affordable web hosting plan, the back office control panels will help you along the way. Even if you’re new to this, they have FAQ and Help sections that can navigate you in case there are any questions you might have down the road. Add in FTP access for uploading files, and you could actually have your site ready in a flash.

Another thing you’ll want to look for is speed and security. Most affordable web hosting has uptime at 99% and speeds that reflect high speed Internet use. Even if your site is full of traffic, their servers will do the job. Just keep in mind that the more multimedia items you have on your website, the performance starts to go down some. However, just compare these to a free web hosting site and you’ll notice the difference.

On the downside, affordable web hosting packages arent suitable for people that want to set up multimedia sites that have streaming capabilities because high amounts of traffic will suffer from major slowdowns. This is where dedicated web hosting gets the upper hand here boasting faster speeds since other sites do not share the same server.

Sites hosted in affordable web hosting servers may be affected if another site hosted in the same server suffers from an attack. This is a major security issue even if your web applications are fully patched up and secure. Therefore backing up or switching to a dedicated server is a must for avoiding damage.

We would even recommend paying the extra fee (it’s small) to be a part of the WHOIS domain privacy package. It will allow you to keep your personal information secure, and alleviate any obstacles that could surface from it. Since most of these companies don’t offer custom name servers to be made, a dedicated server is better in the privacy protection area. Just remember that it costs more.

So as you can see there are a few minor drawbacks to using affordable web hosting. However, they are all in the later stages of your website’s success. It’s important to understand when you’re starting any business, you should only spend what you need to in the beginning. Once you are able to accumulate the traffic and conversion rates that will bring you a return on your investment, then it will be time to take a look at dedicated servers. For now though, stick with affordable web hosting and keep the costs down. It will truly help you out in the end.
